When I was planning my deck, I was focused on all the obvious elements—the layout, the decking, railings…
Then, when I was almost done with the design, something finally occurred to me: This thing is huge and there’s a vast space underneath. It would be crazy not to somehow take advantage of that space.
For me, the best use of extra space was storage. My garage was absolutely crammed with yard tools, a push mower, a riding mower, a small trailer and wheelbarrows. The space under the deck could accommodate all those things and more. But only if if it was dry space. And this is where Trex RainEscape comes in. It turned my under-deck space into a huge yard shed.
Working with new materials always means a learning curve. But with RainEscape, that curve took just a few minutes. It’s a straightforward product, easy to understand and install. Best of all, it’s not fussy. Getting it right doesn’t require a lot of experience, expertise or precision.

Simple is good!
Working with one helper, I covered about 400 square feet in about 4 hours. My deck is up to 10 feet above grade. A lower deck would go twice as fast.
Looking at the installed system, I couldn’t see any weak spots, nothing that will eventually fail. Everything is heavy-duty, there’s nothing that will corrode, no caulk joints, no cemented seams. About a month after installation, we got record-setting rainstorms. Not a drop of water got past RainEscape. I expect that will always be the case, years from now, decades from now.
I would (and will) choose RainEscape again.
